March based energy consultancy firm CUB which helps businesses to manage their energy portfolio, has seen a sharp increase in sales after working with a business coach to address issues in the day to day running of the business.
CUB uses its knowledge of the energy market to provide a proactive energy contract management service for businesses all over the UK. Founded in 1994 by Royden Fairfax CUB is now a third generation family run enterprise.
CUB has grown steadily but as demand for knowledgeable advice and competitive rates increased, the senior management team saw an opportunity to scale up faster so they signed up for GrowthAccelerator.
Delivered by St John’s Innovation Centre on behalf of the GrowthAccelerator Consortium, the service helps England’s brightest growing businesses achieve their ambitions with rapid, sustainable growth. It enables businesses to discover the real issues that could be holding them back, define the right growth plan and open doors to world class business experts and networks. GrowthAccelerator provides access to some of the UK’s top business coaches for one-to-one support, guidance and coaching.
When CUB started out on GrowthAccelerator, the company was hampered by a lack of definition to the business proposition and the need to develop and strengthen the management team.
Following a successful application process, the team at St John’s matched CUB with Sharon Stevens – a professional business coach with over 25 years experience of working in blue chip businesses and with some of the UK’s fastest-growing small businesses.
Sharon has worked with the management team to review their existing vision and devise a plan detailing the key actions needed to deliver the strategy and to equip the team with the skills and confidence to achieve this effectively.
Louis Fairfax, Managing Director is unequivocal in his praise for the coaching:
“The coaching we have received has revolutionized our business and the time we have committed to it has been repaid many times over. It is amazing how much has changed. There is a real appetite for success and growth which everyone is contributing to. All the staff are re-energised, sales are up and there is a real buzz in the office.”
The company has also been successful in being awarded Leadership and Management funding via GrowthAccelerator. This has helped to fund further training for team members to equip them to deliver increased and sustainable business growth.
The future looks bright for CUB. The company were recently honoured for their work in the community and won the Red Ribbon Award 2012 and were shortlisted for Family Business of the year.
CUB is just one of over 50 companies across the region to benefit from GrowthAccelerator since it launched in May 2012.
