From magic idea to tangible growth

Cambridge based mobile applications (app) developer, Magic Solver, is the latest growing business to take advantage of GrowthAccelerator, a new service designed to boost growth for England’s most ambitious businesses.


Magic Solver is a thriving start-up company, set up in July 2009 by three former Cambridge University students. The company creates and promotes new iPhone and Android applications.


With over five million iPhone and Android customers in 90 different countries already, and a leadership position in 35 countries, Magic Solver has a proven business model. However, the business is operating in a competitive marketplace where timing and consumer engagement are vital. The team wanted to make the transition from early stage start up to fast-moving, growing business and has turned to GrowthAccelerator for help.


Co-founder Emmanuel Carraud said: “In app development you are constantly racing the clock so it’s easy to forget the big picture. We know our marketplace and we’re gaining traction fast – but we’ve never run a business before. Coaching is the perfect solution.”


Since working with their coach the company have moved into new office space and have recruited 8 new staff to ensure it is well positioned to meet and benefit from the increasing demand for apps.

Their growth ambition is to reach a £10 million turnover within three years. In addition to gaining market share, as the business grows they need to continue delivering a high quality of service to a significantly increased community of users. To achieve this we will work together to carefully manage the company’s growth around a strategic vision and develop a clear structured plan to support it.”
