ENJOY WINTER ACTIVITIES WITH VIEWRANGER APP

New Austrian and Italian South Tyrol topographic maps now on ViewRanger GPS

Winter sunshine in the mountains can now be enjoyed with greater peace of mind  as ViewRanger, the outdoor GPS app, has expanded its range of Alpine mapping to include Austria following an agreement with renowned map company Kompass Karten.  This addition means that ViewRanger Users can get mountain maps for Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, parts of Northern Italy, USA and Canada.

Whatever the weather conditions ViewRanger will show your precise GPS location on the topographic map with or without a mobile signal.

To access the maps you first need to download the free ViewRanger app and then purchase maps through the in-app store. ViewRanger also allows the flexibility to purchase the mapping required on a by-the-tile basis for a particular valley.

Once downloaded the maps can be used without the need for a mobile signal and no risk of incurring roaming charges. Using tools available on the website www.myviewranger.com you can draw a route that you want to follow on to the map, synchronise it with your phone and then use the GPS facility to stay on track.

ViewRanger is used by mountain rescue teams across the world so it is robust enough even for the most adventurous walkers, climbers, mountain bikers and winter sports enthusiasts.

Additionally through the agreement with Kompass Karten, ViewRanger has introduced new mapping for the South Tyrol (Südtirol/Alto Adigo) in Northern Italy.  Extending coverage further into Italy, new maps have also been launched for the Italian region of Tuscany.

The detailed topographic maps are available at 1:50,000 scale, purchasable as “In App Purchases” with ViewRanger on Apple iPhone, iPads and with Android smartphones and tablets like the Samsung Galaxy S3 or Google Nexus 7. Android & Symbian users can purchase the whole country through ViewRanger’s webshop. Once purchased they can be shared by more than one device ie an iPhone and an iPad.  Full details on www.viewranger.com.
