Anagallis Communications, Cambridge’s first dedicated financial and corporate communications agency, announces the opening of its Cambridge office in the St John’s Innovation Centre on Cowley Road.
Founded by veteran City financial PR, Nigel Szembel (Corporation of London, Deutsche Bank, Collins Stewart Tullett plc, Collins Stewart plc, Tullett Prebon plc and Fundsmith LLP) the firm will focus on Tech and Life Sciences in Cambridge, Oxford and East London, the Small-Mid Cap and AIM markets, and companies still privately held but heading for a listing or other capital markets fundraising.
Comprising career communications and public policy professionals with over 130 years’ financial and corporate communications experience between them Anagallis also brings US coverage through its New York Wall Street affiliate WT Blase & Associates.
Coinciding with occupying its offices at the St. John’s Innovation Centre, Anagallis won a new and sector-leading client, Zopa. Zopa, a UK company and the world’s first Peer to Peer (P2P) Lender, is the market leader in the fast-emerging Fintech sector. Anagallis was retained to advise Zopa on communications around their application for a banking licence, announced on 16 November.
Commenting on the opening of the Cambridge office, Nigel Szembel said: “I feel a little like Pip in Great Expectations. I left Cambridge some 30 years ago and I return to find a city strangely familiar but yet somehow different. Cambridge is now a far more dynamic and wealthy city than I remember it was. Its reputation for innovation and its industry is now of global significance. The capital markets that I have spent my life in now have Cambridge firmly on their radar screen as much as they have any other world-centre of innovation. I fully intend that Anagallis will help introduce Cambridge’s leading and innovative companies to the world’s capital markets, and that it will do so from a local base in the city and not from London”.
