Cambridgeshire based Joyner Bolt won the Structural Timber Association’s Product Innovation award announced during the recent Construction Week exhibition at the Birmingham NEC.
Facing strong competition at the shortlist stage from international brands such as DuPont, knauf and Recticel, company’s Managing Director, Dan Hardingham, was thrilled to hear the Joyner Bolt name announced at the annual dinner.
‘We had another two days at the exhibition and news of our success certainly created even more interest on our stand, especially as we were proudly displaying the award! But the main benefit for us is the external validation of Joyner Bolt from the timber industry. This has already increased interest from the UK construction sector which is invaluable.’
Joyner Bolt is one of the successful companies that were selected to take part in the first edition of Pitchfest 2017 delivered by the by Enterprise Europe Network in partnership with the Knowledge Transfer Network and held at St John’s Innovation Centre. Throughout the programme, innovation advisers helped participating companies develop their pitch decks and master their presentations in the run up to the Investor Showcase Day. Joyner Bolt was one of the shortlisted finalists to present their business idea to the UK and international audience of investors. The company was also selected to share their success story at Innovate 2016 Conference, the UK’s leading innovation event bringing the brightest and boldest of UK innovators together.
‘Following 5 years designing, developing and bringing Joyner Bolt to the market, the biggest challenge is to gain national awareness and recognition from specifiers, stockists and end users’ says Dan Hardingham. ‘We now have national distribution with household names like Travis Perkins, Screwfix, IronmongeryDirect and Ridgeons as well as a growing list of strong independent merchants across the UK. And we are reaching a growing number of end users and followers from exhibitions, social media and the website.’
