The SJIC team recently supported North Cambridge Academy with a full refresh of their school library. Our contributions included creating new design layouts, fundraising to buy furniture, and sorting and cataloguing hundreds of donated books using NCA’s online system. We also provided a range of furniture for the school to use across the site.
SJIC has also supported NCA through prom dress collections and running a raffle, helping to raise over £1,250 for the school so far.
The project was hugely rewarding for the team, giving everyone the chance to work together and finish with a real sense of achievement.
NCA’s feedback was very positive. Lesley King, Executive Assistant, shared her thanks: “The volunteers did a fantastic job…their enthusiasm made the process a real pleasure. We’re incredibly grateful for their support—our library wouldn’t be what it is today without them!”
Andy Daly, Executive Head added: “Providing an inspiring space that fosters a love of reading is crucial for unlocking future potential. We are very grateful for SJIC’s physical and financial support.”
Kirsten Masson, Director of Innovation Programmes also gave a presentation at the recent Cambridge 2030 event, where it’s 5 year strategy was launched, showcasing how the SJIC team has supported NCA and inspired wider tenant member interest in supporting the school community.
A proud moment for the whole team and a brilliant example of SJIC’s growing community impact.
