St John’s Innovation Centre (SJIC) Training congratulates the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE) Enterprise Hub on being named the UK’s leading startup hub, following a collaborative analysis by the Financial Times, Statista and Sifted.
The ranking recognises the Enterprise Hub’s exceptional impact in backing engineering and deep‑tech founders — from early concept to high‑growth venture — and positions it at the forefront of the UK’s innovation ecosystem. In Europe, the Hub has climbed into the top tier of startup support programmes, reflecting its influence beyond national borders.
Since its launch, the Enterprise Hub has supported 600+ entrepreneurs, awarded more than £19 million in grants, helped its community create 6,100+ jobs, and seen its member startups raise an excess of £3.8 billion in follow‑on funding — powerful proof of the Hub’s ability to catalyse engineering‑driven enterprise.
At a time when engineering innovation is critical to addressing global challenges — including climate resilience, advanced manufacturing, AI and sustainable infrastructure — this recognition affirms the Enterprise Hub’s leadership in converting technical excellence into commercial success.
As training delivery partner for RAE’s programmes including Regional Talent Engines, SJIC Training is proud to support the Academy’s nationwide mission to identify, develop and scale ambitious engineering entrepreneurs. Through structured training, expert mentoring and access to vital networks, the partnership helps equip founders with the skills and confidence to build investment‑ready businesses.
David Sales, Programme Director, St John’s Innovation Centre Training commented, “Being recognised as the UK’s number one startup hub is a tremendous achievement for the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Enterprise Hub. The strength of its alumni outcomes and the scale of funding raised by its community demonstrate the depth of its impact — not just in London or the South East, but across the UK’s innovation landscape. We are proud to work alongside a partner setting the benchmark for startup support.”
This milestone not only celebrates the Enterprise Hub’s success but reinforces the strength and ambition of the UK’s engineering‑led startup ecosystem — positioning it firmly on the global stage.
