Innovate UK are excited to collaborate with Arise Innovation Hubs and Medilink Midlands for a series of events this autumn and winter. Our final session in the series explores a core theme of the NHS 10-year plan: how prevention is better than cure.
One of the plan’s key pillars, “from sickness to prevention,” emphasises the need to reach people earlier and prevent illness wherever possible. Achieving this shift requires collective innovation across several vital areas, including health surveillance, genomic science, standardised data collection, and the thoughtful integration of digital and AI technologies. Together, these approaches can help reshape our health ecosystem, empowering every one of us to become proactive, informed citizens.
In this session, we will explore critical challenges such as:
- What needs to change to improve the focus on prevention?
- How can health surveillance data inform and accelerate new preventative health programmes?
- What will it take to embed a data-driven and personalised approach throughout our lives?
