Barnaby Perks

Chief Executive Officer

Barnaby is an engineer and entrepreneur.  He focuses on building high-performing teams around an effective and inclusive business culture.  He has specific expertise in digital health and assistive technology.

After research in biomedical engineering at the University of Dundee in the early 1990s, Barnaby went on to design award-winning assistive technology products for people with complex disabilities with QED, Cambridge Adaptive Communication and GEWA (UK).

In 2001, Barnaby took a global product role with GE Energy, working on geospatial asset management software solutions for utilities, telecom and oil and gas. In 2010 he moved into mental health technology as Founding CEO of Cambridge-based ieso.  In 2018 he led Oxford University spin out Oxford VR as Founding CEO.  From mid-2020, Barnaby began to focus on consulting and non-executive roles, providing support and mentorship to digital health businesses on both sides of the Atlantic.
In April 2024, Barnaby became CEO of St John’s Innovation Centre (SJIC) in a part-time capacity.  He now divides his time between SJIC and consulting and NED work in digital health.
